Natural Gas Choice Programs: Where Gas Leads Make Sense

Gas is its own market

Most energy sales talk is about electricity, but natural gas choice is a big opportunity too. In many states, gas customers can pick a supplier just like electric customers can, and in some states gas is the main opening.

Where gas choice is strong

Here are some of the gas utilities with choice programs in states we cover:

• Ohio: Columbia Gas of Ohio, Enbridge Gas Ohio, Duke Energy Ohio and CenterPoint Energy
• Pennsylvania: PECO, Columbia Gas of PA, Peoples Gas, UGI, National Fuel Gas and PGW
• New Jersey: PSE&G, NJ Natural Gas, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas
• Michigan: Consumers Energy, DTE, SEMCO and Michigan Gas Utilities
• Maryland, DC and Virginia: Washington Gas, plus BGE and Columbia Gas of Virginia
• Indiana: NIPSCO

Where gas is the main play

Some states limit electric choice but keep gas open. Michigan caps how much electric load can switch, so most teams there focus on gas. Indiana doesn't have electric choice, but NIPSCO's gas customers can choose. Virginia's electric choice is very narrow, while its gas choice programs are open.

If you only sell electricity, these states can look closed. Add a gas product and they open right up.

Dual-fuel campaigns

A lot of homes get electricity from one utility and gas from another. In Cleveland, it might be The Illuminating Company and Enbridge Gas Ohio. In Pittsburgh, Duquesne Light and Peoples Gas. If your supplier sells both, one knock can turn into two sales.

Every lead we send is tagged electric or gas, along with the utility, so you can build dual-fuel lists without guessing.

Getting started with gas leads

Tell us which gas utilities you're approved in. We'll pull just those leads, take out Do Not Call numbers and your suppression list, and make sure you never get the same lead twice.
